August 2018

August 3, 2018
I have been working with Conner on learning how to ride a 2 wheeler. It helps that most of the driveways around here are on a slope. He's getting the hang of it!

For the first time since living in Texas, we've decided to DRIVE to Utah. It's about a 20 hour drive, and with three little boys, we've just never wanted to drive it before. We made it a 3 day drive there. The first two days were just drive, drive, drive, with few stops. The first day we drove to Roswell, NM. We got in late at night, so in the morning we naturally had to get pictures with the aliens before we left!

One of the stops we did make was at Four Corners.

Today was our fun day! We spent the second night in Moab, UT and in the morning, we went a a few kid hikes (aka 1 mile nature walks) in Arches. The boys LOVED it! We all had so much fun!

Double Arch
Daddy, Conner and Isaac hiked up to the arch. Caleb didn't like being left behind with Momma, so he started climbing the rocks on his own!

Above: Close up of them way up by the arch; Below: how high they had to climb to get there. Look close and you can see them up there!

Upper Delicate Arch View Point
We knew we could never do the actual Delicate Arch hike with the boys, so we did a viewpoint instead!

Sand Dune Arch
This one was our FAVORITE! The sand was so amazingly soft!

Caleb loves to copy his brothers! So when they step on a rock, Caleb does too!

Here's the arch! We played in the sand for a while!

Conner asked me to take a picture of him sitting on this rock under the arch

Caleb's favorite thing to do was lay in the sand, it was so soft!

Isaac found pushing his head in the sand fun! lol!

Skyline Arch

Conner climbed up this sandy hill all by himself! It looked hard! Showing off his strong muscles!

We had planned to do one more hike, but Caleb was worn out on this one. He had to be carried the whole way and by the end, he had fallen asleep on Ammon's shoulders. So this ended up being our last hike.

After our hikes, we finished the last few hours of driving to Grandpa and Grandma Eggett's house.

Today started another grand adventure! We started by hiking Timpanogos Caves. Most of the way up there was a wall on one side of the path and a great big cliff on the other side. We were constantly saying, "STAY BY THE WALL!!!" as they drifted to the middle of the path.

I carried Caleb 1/2 way up and down, and Ammon carried him the rest of the time

Yup...we went during nap time

Excited to go in the caves!

Conner and Isaac did a great job hiking up and 2/3 of the way down. The last 1/3 was too much and full of a lot of tears and "I want to be done"s.

After the hike, we went to my parent's cabin. Grandpa and Grandma met us there. We played out side and had a great time. We spent the night and in the morning we took out a (rented) UTV! Ammon and Grandpa went down to the valley and dropped Caleb off at his cousin's house to play for the day and picked up the UTV. Grandpa and Grandma rode their 4-wheeler.

There are no words to describe how excited the boys were (Ammon included)!

We left around 10am with packed lunches. In the afternoon, Isaac fell asleep. He was REALLY asleep! His head was bobbing all over the place, helmet hitting the hand bar and he slept through it all. So Conner and I switched spots (Conner LOVED sitting up front), so that I could hold/support Isaac's head. He slept for about an hour and my arm was tired!

Cascade Springs

When it was Isaac's turn to sit up front, he absolutely loved it! He pretended he was steering with his handlebar!

Sadly, the time has come for Daddy to fly back to Texas and work for a few weeks. We drove him to the airport and then went to Temple Square.

We still had fun after Daddy left, but nothing nearly as adventurous!

August 13, 2018
We toured the parks of Utah Valley for the next couple of weeks. Today was Palisade Park.

August 16, 2018
While we were in Utah, there was a Fisher Family Reunion (Grandma Dietz's side) that we went to. It was in the Ogden area. Today we went to the Dinosaur Park and a water park. The Dinosaur Park reminded me a lot of the one we went to in Dallas.

Watch out...the smaller one bites!

WATCH OUT FOR THE DINOSAUR BEHIND YOU!!!!

My boys LOVE water slides!

August 17, 2018
We had a relay race at the family reunion. We were the very last group to go, because I knew it would take us much longer than all the big kids!

And then it was time to go back to Grandpa and Grandma Eggett's house!

August 18, 2018
This morning we met with some of my college friends at a park in West Jordan. It was a big park with multiple playgrounds. All but one of us have all boys! Robin's husband does balloon art and brought it with him, it was a huge hit!

Gekko and Catboy

After dinner we went to Bonneville Park. It has what I call "new age" toys - not traditional toys. Which can sometimes be good, but frequently for my kids ages, they're hard to play on. But they did good with the toys today!

This is one of my boy's favorite things to do at Grandpa and Grandma's house!

August 19, 2018
Tonight we went to Bridal Veil Falls. I was the weird mom who made my boys wear life jackets. But I also never had to worry. Grandpa, Grandma, Uncle Adam, Aunt K-K and Walt all came with us!

August 20, 2018
Tonight we went to the Monte Bean Museum and then to the BYU creamery for ice cream! We went to a animal show at the museum...it was more talking than I anticipated, but we made it through so the boys could pet the animals at the end.

August 22, 2018
Today we went to an indoor play place called Coconut Cove. It was the best!

August 23, 2018
Today we met Kimberly and Walter at the Thanksgiving Point Petting Farm.

August 24, 2018
The time has come to go back home. Ammon flew back to Utah to help us make the drive home. Today we drove to Moab and did a hike at Slick Rock.

 Exploring

My favorite part of this picture is Caleb trying so hard to get up there with his brothers and Daddy!

Big muscles!

August 25, 2018
Day 2 of our drive...we stopped at Mesa Verde in Colorado. Conner, Isaac and Daddy got to do the Cliff Palace tour of the ancient homes.

August 26, 2018
Last day of driving. We started the morning by going to the Great Sand Dune National Park and went sand sledding.

I buried my legs in the sand

And then Conner wanted to bury himself too

The sand wasn't quite as soft as the sand on Sand Dune Arch hike at Arches national park, but it was pretty close! After playing and having fun, we loaded back in the car and drove the rest of the way home. It was such a beautiful drive going through Colorado! It is definitely so much better than driving through New Mexico!
