August 2020

Guys, this girl is 15 months old and look what she can do. I think we are in trouble...

And you better believe she was so proud of herself!

And now she just wants to do it over and over again!

This morning Grandma Dietz came to pick up Conner and Isaac to take them on an activity. They both have a workbook and when they complete 100 pages, they earn an activity. This morning Caleb really wanted to go with them. Conner asked Grandma, "Can I give Caleb one of my activities so he can come too?" That was one of those Mom wins when you know your kids really do like each other!

Conner and Isaac both know which parent to ask wehn they want to watch tv at night (hint: it's not me). Ammon had to go to Lowe's tonight and while he was gone Conner said, "Mom, can you text Dad and ask him if we can watch tv tonight?"

As we slowly paint one room of our house at a time, we are upgrading the closets. They came with the wire shelving that, let's face it, who likes that stuff? It's horrible for shelves! So we've been putting in melamine shelves, and adding more of them! We just finished what will be our multi-purpose room (Office, crafting space, guest bedroom), and it has a walk in closet. Here it is all complete!
We store all our "stuff" (holiday decorations, kids clothes when not being used, kids toys, etc) in plastic totes. We made the shelves fit the totes. Now this closet holds all the kids toys when they're not out. We love having the really tall shelf because it seems like there is always wasted space at the top of the closet. Not any more!

Have you caught on that our backyard is well loved? We have very little grass in our backyard. We blame it on 2 things. #1 Grass doesn't grow in the shade of the big trees. #2 Our kids spend so much time outside, that it all just gets trampled.

The day has arrived! Today Conner starts kindergarten at the local elementary school! He was in a kindergarten class last year; about 3/4 of the students are starting public kinder and the other 1/4 are going straight to 1st grade. Because there were students doing both, they called it the big school, as in "next year at your big school you'll be...." Conner was so excited to start at the Big School! Everything this year is different than normal. Luckily, because it's Conner's first year at the Big School, he doesn't really know what all is different. Although, because he can see that the playground is fenced off, he knows that they normally get to play on it. I was so excited for him, but a part of me was disappointed that we didn't get to see his classroom before the school year started, didn't get to meet his teacher. On the first day of school I just sent him in the doors and somebody else walked him to class. In fact, I probably won't see his classroom. I've never met his teacher in-person, and probably never will. It's just so bizarre for ME! I am SO grateful that he gets to go to school on-campus.

We have been growing watermelon in our backyard this summer and finally picked one of them!

Conner and Isaac both have to do "All About Me" pages for school (Isaac got the assignment at his back-to-school day a week before school starts). They both wanted pictures of themselves riding their bikes!

Isaac also wanted a picture of him and his best friend, Aria

Emma is getting pretty self-sufficient in the backyard. She's only 16 months old, but she can superman swing by herself (swing with her tummy on the swing), get on the trampoline by herself and as you previously saw, climb up the rock wall by her self.

Today Conner and Isaac were playing with a coin and I overheard Conner say to Isaac, "Heads or toes?" Made me laugh!

Today I needed to go to Ikea. With 3 kids. Don't worry, I didn't need to walk through the whole showroom/store; I went straight to the warehouse and knew where to go for what I needed. But I had 2 kids in a shopping cart, so I had to have Isaac help with pushing the freight cart. He didn't mind at all, and actually did a really good job!
