January 2021

 Jan 3, 2021
When we got home from our Christmas vacation, we headed over to Grandpa and Grandma Dietz' house to exchange presents!

Ammon, Grandpa and Grandma had a team effort on making this adorable rocking chair/doll cradle. Didn't they do an AMAZING job! Emma is going to love rocking her new baby doll (a present from G&G D) for years to come!

Emma was missing Daddy today. She sat at the front door crying for him for about 30 minutes. It was so sweet that she missed him so much! It's normal for her to ask for Daddy, but very unusual for her to sit at the front door crying for him.

All that crying wore her out and I found her asleep on the stairs a few minutes later.

One of the gifts Conner got from Grandpa and Grandma Dietz was a marble maze. We have had a lot of fun building the mazes. Tonight G&G came over and Conner wanted to build one to show them how it works!

After a wonderful vacation, we are always excited to play in our own backyard again!

Isaac's teacher sent me this cute picture of him and his friend, Lewis, doing a science experiment with snow!

Conner was "exposed" to someone who tested positive for Covid-19 at recess. So, he has to do "school-at-home" until the 14 day quarantine is up. It's been interesting to see how virtual school works. Before the school year started, I said I absolutely did not want to do virtual school, but if it's anything like school-at-home (I imagine it's the same), then it wasn't too bad. It would have been even better if Conner could read the directions and complete the work by himself. He could complete all his school work, homework and 20 minutes of reading within 2 hours each day. We spread it out in 45 minute sessions. My biggest complaint was that I felt like all my time to do normal household stuff was instead spent helping Conner. It wasn't hard, just time consuming. Also, every few days we would make sure to have "recess" at the park! It also meant that he got to play with his friend, Aria, more because she is doing virtual school.

These are clothes that I wore as a kid. I originally thought I'd have her try them on and get some pictures. I wasn't planning on her wearing the much. However....Emma has started "changing her own diaper" which has resulted in poop finding its way outside of her diaper. Solution...Momma's old overalls!

Ammon and I have been discussing that it might be good for Caleb to share a room with Emma. We feel that he needs the responsibility of being the big brother. So...plug in the saw, pull our the stain, Ammon and Allison are building again!

These bunk beds are toddler mattress sized. We purposefully built the railings on the top very deep because we wanted to make sure that if Emma gets up there, she can't accidentally fall over the edge (very easily). We were planning to lift Caleb into bed until we got a ladder made, but wouldn't you know it, he can climb up without a ladder - which is even more perfect, because Emma CANNOT! So, for the time being, we won't be building a ladder!

The Cranmer family (my sister Elise's family) gave Conner and Isaac a building kit for Christmas. They have had so much fun with them! They both got a marshmallow launcher and a helicopter to build.

Here is Conner showing off his helicopter.
The boys had so much fun with these kits! I highly recommend them!

Today at preschool Caleb learned about the 5 senses. We happened to be walking by while they were using binoculars to learn about sight.

Lately Isaac has been wanting to help Caleb more. He has started helping Caleb floss and brush his teeth and has taken over helping Caleb when its his turn to pray. It is so cute to watch them.

Tonight Caleb was being a little silly, but normally he cooperates while Isaac brushes his teeth.
