Conner's Faces

Conner has an adorable face. While Ammon was out of town this past week, I took pictures of Conner's funny faces and texted them to Ammon. Here are some of the faces I captured.

Daddy was loving getting all the pictures and said to send him as many as we want. So we kept taking them!

What a sweet heart. We love you Conner!

Cleaning the Floors

Today we went to the Honda Dealership to get an oil change. They had a tiny basket of kids toys that kept Conner's interest for about 5 minutes (I miss the new waiting room in the Peoria Honda Dealership because they had a whole kids room!). Anyways, Conner wanted to crawl all over the place. By doing so, he cleaned the floor at the San Marcos Honda Dealership. I definitely wasn't expecting it to be THIS dirty. But that's okay. It doesn't bother me when he gets a little dirty. That's what the bath tub is for! And he loves the bath tub too!

Okay, so these pictures don't quite show how dirty he was, but you get the idea!

Enchanted Rock State Park

On Saturday we drove through the country hills of Texas a couple of hours to Enchanted Rock State Park. It was a really pretty drive with lots of beautiful wild flowers! We drove through the town of Fredricksburg, which looked like a lot of fun. We'll have to go back some day.

Filling the camel back for the hike!

Ammon and I were busy getting ready to go, so Ammon pinned Conner between the sofa chair and the ottoman. It didn't last as long as Ammon had hoped!

Standing Walker

We bought Conner one of those walkers that he sits in, and he loves it! And is very good at it! He zips around really fast - like watch out for your feet fast! So we got him a standing walker. Conner and Daddy had a fun time putting it together. Conner even got to help with some of the screws!

Sadly within the next couple of days he had a few tumbles while using this walker and has decided he doesn't like walking with it anymore. As he gets more steady on his feet, I imagine he'll start using it again!

Work Cupcakes

A month or so ago it was one of Ammon's coworker's birthday, but he didn't tell anyone. I found out because I'm friends with his wife on facebook. So the next day Ammon took cupcakes to work and hung up a "Happy Birthday" sign but printed off the word "yesterday" and hung that at the end. Evidently Ammon's coworkers decided they like celebrating birthdays with cupcakes. So I've made cupcakes 2 more times since then. The second time I made them, Ammon told me some hobbies of the coworker whose birthday it was. I wanted to make themed cupcakes, but didn't have the stuff to do it that night. This time I had a couple of days to plan. Can you guess what this coworker's hobby is?

Golf!
I had a lot of fun making these!

Happy Easter

From the Dietz Family!

Dietz Family Comes to Visit

Okay, be ready for picture overload! But it will be a fun one, so stick around! I am only using like 5% of the pictures taken (a lot of that is of Conner being a ham at the sluice!)! We had so much fun having everyone at our house! It was a 5 day party! I loved it!
On Tuesday the majority of the party animals arrived at our house (the remaining trickled in throughout the week). We relaxed, everyone settled in, and we just had a fun time together. We went to Hinman Park and walked the Comal River, showing the first water slide chute for tubers. We would be tubing the river later in the week. Grandma Dietz was very nervous, which solidified the Powell kid's desire to tube the river! After watching a few tubers go down the chute and a man 'surf' down on his feet, Grandma decided she could do it. The Powell kids were egging Grandma on, "See, Grandma, that proves it. Those girls didn't flip over in their tubes!" and "Come on, Grandma, it's not that scary!"

On Wednesday we went to the San Antonio Zoo and then to the Riverwalk. We ate dinner on the Riverwalk. Ana joined us for the activities!

On Thursday we went to the Natural Bridge Caverns. We took the Discovery Tour and really enjoyed it!

After the tour we did some gem mining (still at Natural Bridge Caverns). We had a lot of fun!

This is the progression of Conner being dry to soaked in the sluice! I'm not sure if he's so happy because of all the attention or because he's in water - I'm sure it's both!
He started off with just a single hand, just gently feeling the water.

Then it went to both hands.

But both hands were splashing and getting both of us wet, so we switched to feet.

Daddy wanted to get in on the fun, so he let Conner stand up :)

We absolutely adore all of his faces that he makes! They make us laugh all the time! He is such a happy boy!

Then Daddy decided Conner was wet enough, and took him over to look at the 'water fall' that fed into the sluice.

 Pure joy!

And happiness

Then Mama got involved and let him climb into the waterfall. He's blowing bubbles in the water.
He was such an incredibly happy boy playing in the water. He had us all laughing! Melissa was a fantastic photographer of it all!

On Friday we went tubing down the Comal river. Our only casualties were Grandpa's glasses and Conner's empty bottle. We all had a blast! Then we went to Landa park for a picnic. After the picnic we rode the mini train all around the park!

Waiting for the train...Conner's fun faces!

 All aboard!

On Saturday we celebrated Easter. Our church has a special weekend full of uplifting, spiritual speakers twice a year called General Conference. This year it took place over Easter weekend. We sat around and watched General Conference on Saturday and enjoyed each others company. We had quite a spread of food!

Don't pay attention to our unfinished shelves. They will look great when they are done! We bought an Easter pinata, and Grandma brought a sand bucket Easter basket for each grandkid! Notice the toys on the middle shelf? Those are some toys that Grandma made! I painted the animals, but Grandma did the rest of it! They turned out so adorable!

On Friday we decorated these Easter Eggs - Glitter polk-a-dot style!

I made some egg poppers (modified from this blog) and left them out for the Easter Bunny to hang in the trees. They were a lot of fun!

Powell kids waiting to go downstairs for the Easter Egg Hunt.

Conner got one egg for each hand and was completely happy. He didn't need any more!

Eliana on the other hand, just wanted to take the eggs OUT of her basket!

Here is our General Conference food. This picture doesn't have our large fruit tray and vegetable trays! The 7-Layer bean dip was the favorite though, it was completely gone by the time the first speaker was done!

These are some Easter chick deviled eggs that I made!

Sadly, that concluded the wonderful visit from the family. Sunday morning everyone left to head home. We had such a fun time with everyone here! It was almost like when we lived in Illinois (except much better weather!). We don't miss Illinois, but we definitely miss the people in Illinois!
