Acorn Bread

In August Ammon was called as the Young Men's President in our ward. He has spent a lot of time trying to make it fun for the boys. Right now they are working on Wilderness Survival. They have had / plan to have 5-6 activities to teach different things about wilderness survival, and then they will go on a wilderness survival campout. They're learning things like shelter building, what to eat, how to start fires using only things found in nature, etc. This week's activity is about eating off of the land. Ammon has done some research into the most common nut found: Acorns. He has spent 3 nights this week preparing for the activity (plus, I spent today working on it for him while he was at work)! Acorns take A LOT of work before they can be eaten. In the end, we made a flatbread and a "corn bread" out of the acorn flour. The activity tonight went well! And of course, Ammon had a lot of fun learning how to do it!
