March 2020

 March 9, 2020
Today is Conner's first day of Spring Break. We had planned to go to Sea World as a family, but Ammon wasn't feeling his best, so he stayed home with Emma while I took the boys. We had a lot of fun! I also learned that rides aren't Caleb's favorite thing.

I was able to get Caleb to ride 3 rides. When we rode the kiddie roller coaster he cried. Then said he wanted to do it again. Then cried while we were on it the second time.
Caleb also rode the carousal. He held onto my neck the whole time, meaning I was doing squats! LOL

Caleb tried the ferris wheel, but I had to ask for us to get off after the first time around.

The boys got to meet Elmo's crew

We went to a sea lion show. Before it started, we bought some fish and we fed the sea lions. The boys loved it! Then I let Conner choose where we sat, and he chose to sit in the splash zone. We sat in the very back row, so that we wouldn't get very wet at all. SURPRISE! We got soaked before the show even started! Caleb wasn't too excited about getting so wet. We moved back a few rows so we wouldn't get sprayed again.

Conner and Isaac had a blast at Sea World. I think Caleb finds other things much more fun! But we still had a great day!

Day  2 of Spring Break; We headed to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area (thankfully Ammon was feeling fine). We spent the afternoon at the Ft. Worth Stockyards. We did a maze, a petting zoo, rode a train, and explored! It was a lot of fun!

While we were in the maze, we came to this sign, and Conner read it for us! I was so impressed!

That dimple though...

Conner and Isaac had been asking for months to ride a train. So we had to ride it! We had the whole car to ourselves!
Funny story: Earlier in the day, both Conner and Isaac had found pennies on the ground, which they had put in their pockets. On the train, they were selling a bag of popcorn for $1. Ammon bought a bag for the 3 boys. He told Conner and Isaac that if they wanted a bag of popcorn, they would have to buy it with their penny. Isaac immediately handed over his penny and received his bag of popcorn. Conner wasn't as willing to give up his penny. He kept trying to sneakily ask Isaac for some of his popcorn, which we told him no. 5 minutes later, Ammon and I had to start eating some of the popcorn out of his bag to convince him to buy his bag of popcorn from us. It was so funny! Later, after the train ride, he gave them both their pennies back.

That night we drove up to the Denton area and met Ammon's sister's family at a park. The kids had tons of fun, and it was fun to catch up with Amber and Josh. For some reason we never took any pictures!

The next morning, we were suppose to go to the zoo and then head home, but when we drove to the zoo, there was a CRAZY amount of cars waiting to get into the zoo. We realized that we would be stuck in our car for atleast an hour before getting to park, and then the zoo would be ridiculously busy. So we changed our plans and started driving home. On our way we stopped at a kids play place and had a lot of fun there!

Back to Sea World! This time with the whole family!
It was fun for Conner and Isaac to show Daddy all the fun rides! Also, because we had 2 adults, one of us could take the bigger kids on a few of the bigger roller coasters that they were tall enough for. The Journey to Atlantes was a FAVORITE!

We went and saw the penguins!

March 16, 2020
It's hard to believe that Carter and Tanner would have turned 7 years old! Sometimes Ammon and I talk about how different our life would have been if they had lived. We can't guess what it would have been like, of course, but we know that when our other kids were born would have been greatly effected!
Other note-worthy news. Spring Break is over and Conner should have started back at school today. However, because of Covid-19, our spring break has been extended another week.

March 18, 2020
Today was suppose to be Conner's Hundred Days of School celebration. Over our original Spring Break, he decided that he wanted to take 100 pennies to school. Since we're not back at school yet, we're doing it at home. We counted, sorted and cleaned 100 pennies!

When we accidentally leave the baby gate at the bottom of the stairs open, this stinker likes to sneak up stairs. When she gets caught, she's pretty proud of herself for making it so far!

March 22, 2020
Caleb makes my heart smile. I don't know how else to describe it! I hope this isn't a phase. I hope he's always my fun loving, easy to laugh, goofy kid!

A TINY bit of mud goes a LONG way with this kid!
Today Emma looked like she was going to start walking. I pulled out my phone and somehow caught her first steps on video! I didn't catch any of the other kids first steps on video! Wow!

March 25, 2020
This is what school looks like for us now. It's not looking like Conner is going back to school any time soon.

Caleb will say "What dah 'eck?!" and I think it's the cutest "what the heck" you've ever heard!

March 28, 2020
I was trying to bribe Emma to sign 'more please', so I started giving her mini marshmallows. At first I would show her how to sign it, and then give her a marshmallow. Eventually, I was expecting her to sign it. I stood my ground really well for quite a while. But how do you say no to this face?

March 29, 2020
The kids didn't know I was baking banana bread when I pulled it out of the oven. As I'm setting it down Isaac comes into the kitchen sniffing the air and says, "Something is going in my nose and I want to eat some!"

At dinner Caleb was trying to be the class clown so he stood up on the bench and started making noises when all of a sudden he steps, misses the bench and falls off. Maybe I'm tired, but I couldn't stop laughing. He wasn't hurt.

Emma is a big laundry helper!

There is a picture of a bear in Isaac's workbook and he tells me, "I'm not scared of bears!"
Me: "I'm not scared of teddy bears."
Isaac: "I'm not scared of real bears! We can see a bear when we are hunting. We will take a bow and arrow and shoot the bear. Then we will all help pick it up and carry it home. Then you have to cut it in half and cook it. Then we will eat it! Can we do it for our next activity?"

Hmmmm.....what a good imagination...?

Emma eats baby food!

September 2, 2019
Grandpa and Grandma Dietz bought Conner and Isaac some school workbooks. After they finish 80 pages, they get to go do a special activity with Grandpa and Grandma. They both completed 80 pages at the same time so they got to go together on this one. They went to a place called Natural Bridge Caverns and did some sluicing (panning for gold, but in this case it was sea shells).

After doing the sluice, they got green rock candy and green ice cream (green is both of their favorite colors right now).

They both really like doing their workbooks, and they both had so much fun on their activity reward!

September 3, 2019
Today is Conner's first day of half day Kindergarten! The school he is going to is the same school he went to for Preschool last year. They have a kindergarten program there too! It will be so much fun because many of his friends from last year will be there. I chose to put him in this Kinder program because it is only 4 days a week for 5 hours a day. It will be a great transition into public school next year. Also, since he has a summer birthday, I'm planning on putting him in public Kindergarten next year.

Conner wanted a picture with his pirate face!

Going into school...

*sigh* Mom brought the nice camera which means lots of pictures...

And the more poses she takes, the more she has to take because I don't smile as well...

Excited to start school!

At the open house last week, the teacher asked each child to make 1-2 scrap book pages of their family. Mrs. Harley said to let it be the kid's creation. Let them pick how they want everything. So this is Conner's. It started with one picture, and gradually added more and more pictures.

Then he wanted to make it into a game "find the person" - we were suppose to write each person's name on the pages, so we just listed them and then when your read a name, you have to go find them in the picture.

September 7, 2019
Conner and Isaac have been begging to go bowling for months. I don't know what made them think of it, or what helps them remember day after day that they want to go, but I finally took them today. They had SO much fun!

STRIKE!!!

Almost all the pins! Pretty good for a 5 year old rolling the ball (no ramp)!

They both use bumpers and Isaac uses the ramp.

While I was working on the computer, Caleb came in and got the kids ipad, and tried to put in earbuds.....

Isn't she just so cute!

Conner and Isaac went on a little hike with Ammon this evening.

September 12, 2019
Isaac is in a one day a week preschool class through the city (more about his class in a minute). His class is right by Landa Park, so I take Caleb (and Emma) to play at the park during Isaac's class. Today he had fun chasing the ducks!

Can you tell he is all boy? Motorcycles, fire trucks, climbing the rock wall, sliding head first, tractors...the perfect day at the park for any little boy. He was in heaven! Especially because he basically got Momma to himself!

Our van has a tv/dvd player in it. We only turn it on when we will be in the car for a long time (not when we are driving around town). Sometimes we will turn it on when a child is super tired, but we don't want them to fall asleep in the van. Here's Isaac trying to convince me to turn it on...

September 13, 2019
Ammon and I got the opportunity to go on a weekend getaway for our anniversary. The boys stayed home with Grandma Dietz and we took Emma with us (I don't leave babies over night until they're about a year old). Ammon and I have really been missing the mountains, so we decided to go somewhere we've never been before, Colorado Springs!
Emma was super good on the flight!

I think our favorite cuisine is Thai food. It's a special treat for us to get it and it is OH. SO. YUMMY!!!!

Thom Kai soup is AMAZING!

Pad Thai is always a win!
I forgot to take a picture of our amazing dessert! Sticky rice with mango and coconut ice cream. Every single bite was amazing! We love Thai food!

September 14, 2019
Today we started off by going to Garden of the Gods. It's a public park with lots of hiking that is made of red rock. We found tons of rocks that the boys would have loved climbing! Isn't it funny how we need a vacation from our kids, but then while we are gone we worry and think about our kids so much! Lol!

After that we drove through a small tourist town, I don't remember what it's called. Then we went for a walk around Old Colorado City (old town). We ate at a Greek restaurant there. When we were standing in line waiting for to rent a car, the man in front of us recommended this restaurant. We don't eat Greek very often, so it was fun! And yummy!

Then we went for a drive up to Pike's Peak. It's just over 14,000 feet high. There were a lot of pull outs and places to stop along the drive. We were told that babies aren't suppose to go past Glen Cove, so Emma and I got out and enjoyed the cooler weather and sunshine, gift shop and beautiful nature while Ammon continued to the peak.

That night we went to Costa Vida to eat. When we go somewhere with Costa Vida/Cafe Rio, we always make sure to eat there since we don't have any close to home!

September 15, 2019
Today we went for a beautiful hike in the mountains. We went up Cheyenne Canon (with a Spanish squiggle over the middle n) and did a hike called The 7 Bridges. The hike followed the river up the mountain, and you crossed it 7 times...on bridges. It was so much fun!

We just crossed bridge 5 and decided we were happy with how far we made it with the stroller. We didn't go to the last two bridges.

This hike was so rejuvenating to our souls. We really, really miss living by mountains!

After our hike we went back to Garden of the Gods for a bit.

September 16, 2019
This morning was just packing and flying home. We brought the boys back a coal mining lego set (Colorado Springs used to be a mining town). They loved it!

September 19, 2019
This morning Isaac wanted to feed Emma breakfast. So cute!

While Isaac is at Preschool today, I took Caleb (and Emma) to the park again. Today Caleb liked chasing the squirrels. Here's a cute video:
Caleb says in his cute voice: "Come here", "Get in this, "He's right there", "He didn't get in hat"
Later he was jumping and trying to climb the tree to reach the squirrel!

Here's Caleb climbing! I'm pretty impressed considering he's only 2!

September 20, 2019
Today I caught Caleb getting a drink out of the faucet!

Caleb needed a breathing treatment but I was holding Emma, so I set Emma in Caleb's lap while I got the breathing treatment ready. They both thought that was fun!

September 21, 2019
Today Isaac started T-Ball and Conner started Coach Pitch Baseball. They both loved it!

Can I just say 3 year olds playing baseball might just be the cutest thing EVER! And yes, I was the crazy Momma out there with the nice camera (not a phone) snapping a jillion pictures!

When playing out field, the goal is for the kids to get the ball and throw it to 1st base. So when a kid get the ball, everyone points and yells "Throw it to first!"

The goal for hitting is to find first base! He was so excited he made it!

The get to play 2 innings.

High fives after the game is over

And a team cheer!

The way this league works is they practice for 30 minutes, then immediately have a 30 minute game. At the end of practice Isaac and I were running the bases and I said, "Now run home!" which was a mistake, I should have called it 4th base, lol. Isaac started saying he wanted to go home and he was all done. I told him if he stayed for the game, he would get after game treats. That did it. Of course he wanted to stay now! And he had A BLAST playing the game (he liked it better than practice, who doesn't?!)

Making friends!

I bet you didn't know tackle baseball was a sport! Everyone wants the ball after the other team hits it!

In coach pitch, the coach pitches the ball 3 times. If the kid doesn't hit it, they then get the T to hit the ball off of. Conner was so excited that he hit it off of the coach's pitch both innings!

Running to first base!

Hit #2

Made it to home plate!

My cute little baseball player!

September 22, 2019
Isaac started drawing people today! It is so fun to see your kids make milestones! They have heads and legs.

This is his bird. It looks a lot like a person, but it has a beak!

September 26, 2019
Caleb asked to feed Emma her applesauce today, and I was like, "sure". I know it'll be messy, but whatever. Then I look over and see this...
No wonder he wanted to feed Emma! He wanted a little snack!

When I switched to feeding Emma vegetables, Caleb wasn't as interested!

September 26, 2019
Today was Isaac's last day of this preschool class (he'll do a different class in October). This class was called Cooks with Books. Each week they read a book, made crafts and a food item that went with the book.
If You Give A Mouse A Cookie

If You Give A Pig A Pancake

If You Give A Cat A Cupcake

If You Give A Dog A Doughnut

The fair is a big deal here where we live. The kids don't get a "fall break" from school, they get "fair day" off of school - which is a Friday and Conner doesn't have school on Fridays, so he didn't get a day off of school. Anyways, today (Thursday) was dress like a cow boy/girl at school Then after school there was a "field trip" - aka all the parents take their kids and meet up - at the fair. I was a little worried because it's still so hot, but we had a fun time!
Cowboy Conner

Holding Chicks

Sitting on Tractors...Caterpillar needs to up their game and get in the fair!

Petting Zoo

I told the kids that IF the rides were open, I would let each of them choose ONE ride to ride. When we got over there the ticket purchase booths were closed, but the men running the rides just let us ride for free. Isaac picked the helicopters.

Conner picked the motorcycles

When the ride began, it jolted forward which scared Caleb really bad. He cried the whole time the ride was going.

After the two rides, they stopped giving free rides and turned the rides off. One of the other moms said she thinks that they were the ones setting up the rides, not running them!

Emma was tired of being in the heat and was crying. The second she got in the air conditioned car she found her thumb and was content and ready to get home for a nap!

Conner is getting really good at writing. Today at school he wrote everyone in the family a note. Unfortunately he couldn't find Caleb's when he got home (he said it said "I love brother"). He wanted to "hide" them somewhere for each of us to find.

Such a sweet, cute boy! Love you Conner!

September 28, 2019
Some ladies in my church paid to have a lady come teach us how to do royal frosting on sugar cookies. We had such a fun night! We are already talking about doing it again! Here are the cookies I made!

Cute Emma is ready for Halloween!

September 29, 2019
Another Halloween outfit for Emma

September 30, 2019
Today at school Conner's class had a Writing Celebration. Conner showed me what he has been "writing" in his writing folder this month. Things like this are less about what he did, and more about building self esteem and showing support and love for your child.

Whew! It was a BUSY September! So much fun, but busy! I love this cute family of mine!
